John F. Newbauer, Ed.D., HSPP, DNASAP, is semi-retired and is a consulting psychologist for behavioral clinicians working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  He started working in community mental health and, in 1981, co-founded Phoenix Associates, Inc. in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with Bill Blanks, MSSW.  While at Phoenix Associates, Dr. Newbauer and his staff provided psychological testing services to Charter Beacon Hospital and, along with Bill Blanks, developed a community-based treatment program for juveniles who committed sex offenses and later a program for adults who committed sexual offenses. He later worked as the Director of Treatment and Diagnostic Services for the Allen Superior Court in Fort Wayne.

Dr. Newbauer taught Adlerian Psychology and psychological testing for 18 years at the Adler School of Professional Psychology (now Adler University). He presents regularly on Adlerian-related topics and has served as Treasurer and later President of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) and served as its Executive Director.  Dr. Newbauer also served on the faculty and Board of the International Committee of Adlerian Summer Schools and Institutes (ICASSI) and worked as its Administrator.
